Decorating Your Home With Seashells
70The nautical theme is coming back in home decor and more people are becoming creative with seashells that don’t cost them any money, only a trip to the ocean. If you have kids, you know how quick your collection of seashells can grow to become overwhelming. Every seashell washed up on the shore, cracked, broken, big, or small is irresistible to children. However, what that means to you is a creative decorative way to place a nautical theme in your home.
Options
You can place shells in so many different locations in the home. Here are just a few tips on what you can do with shells.
Create a beautiful nautical themed basket by gluing shells on the basket. Display these baskets beside a chair or on a shelf where you can store items in. Fill the basket with larger shells.
Display a few of the seashells in clear glass jars and set them on a shelf. You can mix the seashells so you have a variety of colors in your jar. If you are great with embroidery you may want to embroider the date that you went on vacation so you will always remember the date when you found the seahsells.
Centerpiece
You can use seashells as your centerpiece by placing a large open mouth glass jar that you can fill up with seashells. You can add pinecones, dried flowers, Spanish moss, and more so you can create a centerpiece that is elegant yet simple. This will be the talk at the next book club meeting that you host in your home. You can find a vase or jar to use online or at your local store. If you are artistic, you may want to try your hand in ceramics.
Seashell wreaths are another way to add seashells in your room. You can take a simple wreath that you can find in a craft store. Use a hot glue gun to glue on the seashells in a variety of patterns. You can also add several dried flowers, starfish, and more so that you have a creative way to decorate your wreath. Hang it on the wall when you are done.
